I was sent for a follow-up colonoscopy following unexplained bowel inflammation and hospital admission for infection and associated fever.
On arrival it was explained that the procedure would be quick but the nurse suggested sedation due to other recent procedures, however I felt a little pressured to go with no sedation. In retrospect, I should have taken the sedation as this procedure was very uncomfortable causing me to cry out at times with the pain.
Prior to the procedure I was made to feel uncomfortable as previous exploratory procedures and testing that had been carried out were discussed and described most of them as a waste of NHS money. This was upsetting, as I still have no answers despite this testing, hence the further examinations. It was also suggested that the biopsies that had been requested were a further waste of time and money.
The care given was very good, but I was just made to feel as though I was wasting everyone's time.
