"Front staff appalling customer service"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital / Accident and emergency

Was not the busiest yet still waited over 20mins for the reception staff to acknowledge people were waiting to check in. A deaf old lady in pain was at the desk for some time whilst the person behind the desk was chatting to their colleagues!!!! Disgraceful! They actually looked at her like she was the rude one interrupting!!! Nurses however were very efficient and kind once we passed that stage.

Thank you for your comments, I was so sorry to learn of your experience and have discussed this with the department, I understand that very shortly there will be changes to how the reception at our emergency department, as part of the redevelopment of this area, is run and should you wish to discuss this matter further, please contact our PALS team at pals@bsuh.nhs.uk.

I was pleased to learn that the care provided by the nursing staff was good and I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Hannah Pacifico
