I discovered a lump in my breast and immediately contacted my GP surgery for an appointment; the doctor done an examination and referred me to the Victoria Infirmary Glasgow Breast clinic.
I was offered an initial appointment within 2 weeks. I was seen by a doctor and at the clinic a general doctor was also present which I was more than happy for them to be there as this enables the new doctors to learn. I was referred onto the scan unit that day and had my scan and biopsy. The nurse present and doctor who performed the biopsy were both excellent and extremely calming in a difficult time for myself.
I then met with my doctor again that day and was advised that it didn't look malignant however they would have the full results within 1 week. I arranged an appointment with the administration staff for the following week. at my return appointment it was confirmed as benign.
I have been referred to general surgery to have this lump removed. I have had my pre-op assessment this week both with a nurse and doctor - again an excellent service.
All of the above and subsequent operation will have all taken place within 2 months of discovering this lump. I honestly couldn't fault the amazing services from the GP receptionists; GP; Administration staff, Nurses and Doctors at the Victoria Infirmary - I feel so blessed to live in a country that offers the NHS services we have and more recognition is deserved.
"Amazing services from NHS"
