My stays there as an inpatient have been invaluable to me. Saving my life and giving me hope living with chronic illness. The level of care is excellent, and provides me with respite as someone struggling with illness and living alone. After years of desperation, looking to different departments of the NHS to help me I had given up hope. Had previously suffered years of being given inappropriate treatments and looked at as a bunch of symptoms not a unique individual.
My stays at the CIC have provided me with a level of care that is insurpassable. I have been given tools to manage my illness which have given me hope. I have been treated as the unique individual that I am with my physical and emotional issues and needs being attended to and nurtured by all the staff the ward.
This experience of 5 day stays at the ward could not possible be replaced by outpatient appointments. The current proposal to close this ward is just wrong.
