Frimley Park Hospital surgeon and anaesthetist gave excellent previews of what was going to be done.
Physiotherapist's instructions very clear and useful leaflet information provided.
HCA who checked me in on admission was most pleasant and professional. Recovery nurse absolutely lovely, deserves 10 stars.
Not impressed at all with three staff nurses who were on duty. Not unpleasant or rude but appeared to spend most of afternoon sitting at corner of desk talking and I could hear it was personal not hospital talk.
However they were able to give plenty of attention to two ward sisters who came to talk to them. HCA was all this time busy up and down the ward.
One of the three nurses did come past my cubicle on a couple of occasions during my five hour wait to go to surgery.
No question of asking patient if I was o.k. or needed anything I had to ask them when I might be going for surgery.
Telephone was not answered promptly although there were three nurses next to it.
On one occasion I counted that it rang twelve times before they picked up the phone which.they were sitting beside.
Post 7 p.m. On return to ward Recovery room nurse kindly brought me cup of tea and sandwich, much appreciated.
Probably this is hospital policy and they do not expect patients to faint after day surgery but when I asked a staff nurse if it was all right to go to the loo they said yes and I walked across on my own on my crutches (supplied that day) to toilet.
Fortunately they were outside door when I came out as my foot had begun to bleed and needed re dressing. Also, surprised that I had to ask nurse if the cannula needed to remain in my hand as I was leaving.
Friends had been sitting outside waiting to collect me for nearly twenty minutes and it was not until I opened a text to say they were on their way that I asked nurse to let me know when they arrived and they said 'Oh! they are here'.
