I always arrive early for appointments and so I expect to have to wait for a reasonable period of time in order to be seen at the scheduled time. However, having to wait in excess of forty minutes for a routine pre-assessment consultation with a nurse is a little over the top given the straightforward nature of my personal health criteria. I believe this was because the nurse was too busy chatting and giggling and was not adequately concentrating on their duties. I am all in favour of a good-natured working environment but NHS staff need to appreciate that patients are attending for a reason and are not present for the entertainment factor. Get on with the job at hand. Less dilly-dallying please.
