I have been attending Urology at the Freeman for 2 years for management of a benign prostate. A recent MRI scan was inconclusive and showed some changes which could not be clearly confirmed. As I was anxious about the MRI the Consultant offered me an appointment to discuss the situation in more detail. The Consultant outlined the available options and gave me clear advice on what they thought should happen. Knowing my concerns they reassured me they would support me whatever decision I made. The care and understanding they demonstrated together with their clear explanation greatly helped me. Obviously all Consultants are highly trained and qualified but not all are able to show the level of understanding I was shown. The Consultant after closely listening to what was important to me outlined a course of action. Since attending the Freeman I have been impressed with all Staff I have come into contact with from Reception to Radiology (MRI) Consultant and Nurses. At a time when resources are greatly stretched I think you provide an amazing service. I wish all hospitals could do the same as my experience of another hospital South of the Tyne has been very different in a negative way. Well done and thanks so much.
