What I liked
Everybody & Everything
I've witnessed various staff members at this infirmary regularly use the medicated hand cream provided.
This is something that I haven't even witnessed any GP at my surgery use yet.
Indeed the only other medically trained person that I've witnessed using this hand cream was a surgeon at the Spire Hospital, Washington.
Shame on all of you who don't use it when you should.
What could be improved
My general health for one.
Perhaps a better waiting & seating area outside of the consulting rooms would benefit all visitors.
Anything else?
I find it hard to believe that only 90% of patients attending this Eye Infirmary actually recommend it whereas a far, far worse and deplorable hospital just up the road has a 66% recommendation.
Very strange indeed!
Just how accurate are these feedback figures?
When I became slightly exhausted walking along the corridors to attend my appointment with the consultant I was immediately approached by a concerned member of staff who inquired if I was feeling all right. I'm always forced to stop and take a regular breather these days. This staff member went out of her way and escorted me to the lift.
When I arrived at my designated area, another member of the staff asked the various patient escorts, if someone would give up their seat for me (I'm ambulant disabled!)
Well I was immediately spoiled for choice. A special thanks to everyone who offered me their chair and who remembers me.
As I hadn't seen the consultant for about 11 years, I was surprised when he said that he remembered me from his original diagnose all of those years ago. Photographic memory perhaps?
He was as nice last February as I remember him being in 1999.
All medical staff (inc. Doctors & Consultants) working at the Sunderland Royal Hospital could learn a valuable lesson or three on how best to listen to and treat their patients from the wonderful staff at this wonderful establishment.
Well done and thanks to everyone there!
