What I liked
I had a private room after emergency c section which was much appreciated as I had privacy and peace to bond with my baby.
What could be improved
At times 'I felt in fear fo my life. The nurses on the ante natal ward, were dismissive and cruel in nature. They did not seem to take any satisfaction from their job and couldn't be bothered to offer any emapthy or basic nursing care. My pain was largely ignored and I was left in agony for hours without intervention or emotional support. I still feel tearful weeks on when i think of their bored faces when 'I asked for help. They would stand their hands on hip and raise eyes etc. One of the doctors was very rude when i asked for an explanation of what she was doing. When I feel strong enough I will write a full complaint. The delivery ward was better but nothing exceptional. I had an emergency c section to deliver my baby and the surgeon and anaethetist were great - i felt fully informed and safe in their hands. Some of the midwives were good but the care was not consistently good and if I had the choice i would never have a baby here again.
Anything else?
Although their was pockets of good practice, to be honest it felt few and far between, I would avoid this hospital. It was a dehumansing and disempowering experience at times and the bad sadly outweighed the good.
