What I liked
cleanlines and the security of the maternity unit
What could be improved
there needs to be a waiting room on Level B for visitors: visitors don't mind having a limit on the number of visitors if appropriate provision is made. Waiting downstairs requires visitors to use their mobile phones (if they can get a signal at QA) and this is discouraged. Otherwise there is time wasted in the limited visiting hours, whilst you make the journey back upstairs. One midwife very curtly informed us we were not allowed to wait in the corridor and whilst I appreciate it must be frustrating for midwives to have to repeat instruction to visitors, this midwife was particularly rude during an evening visit.
