I was in a very dark place last year at 17 years old and attempted suicide multiple times by overdosing with me being admitted to ICU twice and sunshine ward about 6 times. I'd like to say that almost everyone I came into contact with had my best interests at heart, i was repeatedly told by different doctors and nurses that they would try their best to save me and make me feel better.
I was dying and the ICU team saved my life, going above and beyond for me and caring about saving me at a time where I didn't want to save myself. It was a terrifying time but the kindest and compassion i received from doctors and nurses particularly in ICU will stay with my forever. It makes me so emotional how much amazing care I received and I don't know how to show you my utmost gratitude. All I can say is although I cannot go near the hospital due to being reminded of the trauma of what I went through. I would feel safe knowing that if anything bad was to happen to my friends or family they would be safe. My mum repeatedly says to me what a great hospital you are because you saved my life. Also like to say thank you to the children's A and E and psychiatric team who always saw me promptly. The people working in this hospital will always have a special place in my heart. Thankyou so much!
"ICU staff were incredible."
