My 90yr old uncle was taken into A&E yesterday after his hip gave way while out shopping. We followed behind, and by the time we arrived he was comfortable in a spacious cubicle where we joined him.
There was a wait of about an hour but nurses had checked on him during that time and made sure he wasn't in pain.
Another staff member came along and offered us all teas and coffees which I thought was a lovely touch.
He was taken to xray and then seen by a doctor, who gave us a clear explanation of the xray results and explained the options open to Uncle.
This doctor was also very very pleasant.
There was nothing they could do then and there but the doctor was concerned about my uncle being so wobbly as he lives alone. They were more than happy to admit him, although I then assured them that we would take Uncle home with us for a few days.
All in all a very favourable experience. Thank you to all A&E staff.
"Kindness and consideration from everyone"
