I had had a hernia for 18 months which was not diagnosed as a hernia back 2 years ago but as something else and left alone. It got worse as the lump I had swelled to 3 times what it was. For the month prior to seeing my GP I was vomiting up to 17 times a day and had diarrhoea also. The pain was excruciating by this time. I went to my GP and she organised an ultrasound scan which I had. Within 2 days of the scan my GP had spoken to a consultant who decided I needed an urgent appointment. I was sent to see the consultant at the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU). It was decided I needed surgery that day and I was kept in and had the surgery early evening on that day. The consultant and his team were very nice. They explained everything throughout the time I was there. I had the surgery and stayed the night on Tandridge Ward. The only thing that was bad was the poor lady in the sideroom was shrieking most of the night and I couldn't get any sleep. The care was excellent and both doctors and nurses were very nice and very helpful.
"The care was excellent"
