"my grandma in Blackpool Victoria"

My grandma has been on this ward for several weeks now, during this time we have found the service of the staff to be variable as in some are approachable and some not so approachable.

In my opinion the treatment that she has been getting is not so good. when ever she needed help she did not get it until the last minute when it was too late.

She has recently started walking abit as she was unable to mobilise on her own and needed assistance but none were provided. She had several episodes where she needed assistance but was too late by the time the staff got around to helping her.

She has been left without a drink all day and takes until some one in the family come in and nag the staff until the eventually bring one hours later. The majority of the time we bring food and drink in for her as she doesnt like the food there. We have informed staff about a certain condition that my grandma suffers with and it is also in her notes, yet the we think staff still ignore it and dont keep an eye on her when it is needed.

When family visit they are made to feel in the way and invisible by some members of staff when you want to speak to a nurse.

In my opinion some of the staff need customer care course as from my experience some are unapproachable but there are a select few that you can talk to and are able to inform you of how my grandma is!

Dear Jelly thank you for your message regarding you grandma’s treatment on the General Surgery wards at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. I have spoken with Assistant Director of Nursing/Patient Experience at the Trust on your behalf regarding the issues you have raised and they are now being looked into.
