So I am 24 weeks pregnant with my first baby and yesterday I had severe pain in the abdomen while at work. I couldn't walk and almost collapsed because of the pain. i started crying and panicking so my colleagues called an ambulance that took me to Burton hospital, to ward 15 to be precise. When I got there the pain wasn't as bad as in the beginning but with a history of pain before pregnancy and being admitted into hospital with cysts and endometriosis I didn't want to take the chance.
After an hour wait (that didn't bother me because they were performing tests on my urine sample) this person walks in and says they are one of the doctors there. And starts questioning me why i had called the ambulance only for this pain and that they had limited resources and i shouldn't call it again. My husband and I were left speechless by their attitude and lack of professionalism... they walked out in the middle of our talk because their phone beeped. I was explaining that I was very worried and that's why i called the ambulance. Why should I even have to explain myself in front of them??? It's my baby and my health and I will call the ambulance 10000000 times if necessary.
I was left sad and uncomfortable and with the feeling that I didn't matter and neither my baby.
I still want to give birth at Burton but I wouldn't want that doctor to be anywhere near me or my baby.
I really hope I don't ever see them again, I am not saying that this doctor is not a good doctor but they should really reconsider the way they treat people!!!
Mentioned this whole experience to one of the nurses there who was lovely and apologised and advised us not to worry too much.
"rude doctor!!!!"
