In early Jan 2016, I was taken by ambulance to A & E, having severe abdominal pain all night. I was told that, if I still had my appendix, they would be looking at that, but I had had that removed 50 yrs ago. The problem was a blockage in the bowel, which eventually was found to be caused by scar tissue from the earlier appendix op. I was kept under observation for a week, and then was operated on to remove the scar tissue and a small part of the bowel. All went well, and I was due to go home just over a week later, but the evening before I was to go home, I developed an infection and ended up staying another week, much of it in ICU (Radnor ward)
During the 3 1/2 wks in Odstock, I spent time in Radnor, Britford and Downton wards. I would like to express my deepest appreciation and thanks for the care and treatment I received throughout my stay. The compassion afforded me by so many staff of all departments and levels, was amazing and humbling, to say the least. I would also like to thank the catering team for a lovely, varied and quality menu. The food I had, while in your care, looked appealing, was nicely cooked and tasted good as well. If anyone had any doubts or uncertainty, then someone from the team were quite willing to come and discuss your needs, thankyou very much. I could mention a few names in particular, but it would not be fair as I could not name everyone who made a particular impression on me.
Thanks to all of you, surgeon, doctors, nurses, caterers and cleaners, also of course, the porters, so many different skills make the team work.
"The compassion afforded me was amazing"
