My experience at SASH has been extremely amazing. From the first consultant appointment to the operation was 3 days!
I was suppose to be a day patient by ended up being in for 3 days following complications.
The food was good, the tea round was a god send and the staff on the whole were amazingly helpful, however I did have I issue with the night staff on the Friday nite/Saturday morning shift. I stayed at Tandridge ward and that nite there were 4 staff on Following my operation I had issues in peeing and needed a catheter. But the staff were unable to ut one in as they needed a doctor to authorise it. Having drunk over 2ltrs of water (having been told to do so) I was in so much pain that after 3 hrs I ended up phoning my GP who got hold of the surgeon on call who organised the catheter. This should not have happened and resulted in me staying in for a further day. There was only 1 doctor on that night and the doctor stuck in A&E only finally coming to see me at 5am on Saturday morning.
The staff that night needed someone to lead them and they didn't have it. The following nights staff however were completely different. My guess is that is was an isolated inccident but it shouldn't have happened.
Apart from this problem my whole experience was very good.
