I visited the A&E Department after having an accident on my cycle on the way into work. I checked in quite quickly despite it being extremely busy. I was seen in a reasonable time, and then I was progressed through triage, an examination and finally received an x-ray which showed I had broken my Olecranon (elbow bone).
The staff explained fully what this all meant and entailed - which was a 2 night stay in hospital and an operation. After speaking to a doctor, and having a 'cast put on my arm' I was given a bed in the 'Treatment Centre'. The next day I had several tests and visits from staff and had my operation in the mid afternoon.
All the staff I met and spoke to were fantastic. They were very professional, kind, thoughtful and clearly dedicated to delivering a 'first class care package’ to me. I simply cannot praise them enough! I am extremely nervous of hospitals and GP surgeries, but the staff made me feel relaxed and at ease completely throughout my stay. Everything they were doing was carefully explained to me and at no time was I left unsure or worried.
It is really nice to be able to leave such positive comments, and I feel that hospital staff just do not receive enough praise for the work that they do. I did see some of their ‘awkward and difficult customers’ and I was amazed at how well the staff dealt with them by remaining calm and professional.
I am so grateful to all the staff for the way I was looked after during my stay, (and to the lovely member of staff who accompanied me into theatre) and special thanks to the surgeon who did a brilliant job of sorting out my fracture!
"Short and comfortable stay"
