The paramedics were amazing and when I arrived at A&E, I was quickly whisked away for treatment.
I was terrified, but the whole team at A&E were super friendly, super organised, and most importantly made me feel safe, cared for and as relaxed as I was able to be in the circumstances, with continual little reassurances. My husband was sent straight to me as soon as he arrived, which helped enormously. Once stable I was put on Walnut Ward where the same degree of very high care was given. Hinchingbrooke is a fantastic hospital, with a huge, huge heartbeat pumped by the amazing nurses, orderlies, doctors, consultants, tea ladies/gentlemen, x-ray techs, etc, etc, all of whom remained helpful, cheerful, driven, superbly knowledgeable professionals who, to my witness, made everyone they came into contact with feel valued and worthwhile. Amazing, amazing people. P.s. I don't know their name, but the consultant I saw before I was allowed home warned me in no uncertain terms of the death sentence continued smoking would hand me, and i'm really happy to say that this talk worked and I've now been a non-smoker for 8 days, and have no intention of ever starting again. Thank you Hinchingbrooke. xxx
