My 90 year old mum was visiting me in Worcester when she became very ill. It was Sunday May 24th (Bank Holiday) at about 5pm and I was fearful of the service we would get. However, the paramedics arrived within 10 mins and were very thorough and professional. In A&E all the staff were wonderful, although clearly under a lot of pressure. The doctor was calm, gentle and took time to explain what was happening. Pre-admissions settled my mum down to a cup of tea at 10.30pm and I finally left. My mum then spent almost 2 weeks on Laurel 2 ward. She was confused, a bit delirious at times because she had fluid on her cancerous lung and could not get enough oxygen.. Everyone on that ward did their utmost to improve my mum's condition. The consultant and doctors monitored her diligently and acted decisively. The nurses and HCA's were hardworking and considerate to my mum at all times. At the time my mum did not understand just how well she was being cared for but now that she is back home in Manchester she really appreciates the service she received. My sister, my mum's main carer in Manchester, was very impressed too: I kept her regularly informed while my mum was in hospital Many thanks to everyone who looked after my mum.
"My Mum' treatment was excellent"
