I attended A+E with my 4 year old daughter who was suffering from asthma. It took 75 minutes before the triage nurse saw her to check her sats. We were then asked to wait to see the doctor. 2hrs15 min later we gave up waiting as the number of people in the waiting room didn't seem to be diminishing and in the 2hr15min wait only 2 people were called through. There was no information as to how long the wait may be (the TV screen wasn't working),
I couldn't find a member of staff to ask. It was now 10pm and my 4 yr old was beyond tired not helping her condition. I took her home, dosed her up on yet more inhaler and had yet another sleepless night listening to her cough and struggle. Either the A+E department is understaffed or the system doesn't work.
