What I liked
The staff I met working in the fetal medicine clinic where I underwent a CVS procedure were outstanding. I was treated with great dignity, care and professionalism. I met 2 consultants and a midwife who arranged the CVS via my Genetic Counsellor. I was very nervous but extremely well looked throughout. It became apparent from the first attempt that a CVS was not going to be possible on this occasion due to the posotioning of my uterus at that time. I was swiftly booked in for a further CVS in 10 days time so that the procedure could be attempted again in the hope that things had changed. The midwife did all she could to meet with the short 'window of opportunity'' I had before my 2 week summer holiday but most importantly I was advancing rapidly in my pregnancy and time was running out to carry out the procedure. When I went along for this appointment, I met a different consultant who, despite a greater than average risk, undertook the CVS procedure. This took a long time and I later found out that he had worked through his entire lunch hour and regrettably for others was therefore late for many of his afternoon clinic patients. I received documentation confirming all that had been carried out there and then on the day along with a report from the consultant. This department was clean, welcoming and modern. All staff I encountered were helpful, friendly and professional. I would recommend this department / hospital to anyone who is about to undergo a CVS screening procedure or any other similar procedure without hesitation.
What could be improved
Nothing at all.
