I spent time in 3 different parts of the maternity area of the hospital. The labour ward were not at all helpful or kind during a very long and painful labour. Left me alone in the bath for a good half an our while I was on pethidine. I was so tired I would fall asleep with my eyes open while trying to stay awake. I was basically told to toughen up and given no pain relief (pethidine only helped me sleep as my labour lasted nearly 30 hours. Didn't help the pain) . They told me they were going to send me home and soon after, I began giving birth and they were completely shocked.
The staff who helped me give birth were really fantastic. They were really kind and helpful and made me feel well looked after.
The ward where you recover after birth were equally brilliant. So helpful and nice. Meals are all provided.
