I attended the hospital on Monday morning 1:45am after going into labour.
I was welcomed by serval members of staff and allocated my own midwife.
The birth 'home from home' room was very clean and comfortable.
My midwife was brilliant, supportive, respectful and professional throughout. Their shift ended at 7:30am but they stayed later in order to deliver my son and ensure I was well following the birth. At this time another midwife had also been allocated to me and they worked together.
I required stitches for a second degree tare.
Due to previous mismanagement from my first birth (at another hospital) I had a care plan in place. The midwives assessed me and asked the doctor to undertake the repair.
The doctor attended immediately and was professional and kind.
The doctor took their time on the repair and explained what they were doing throughout.
I lost some blood following birth and required a drip to contract my uterus. This was similar to my previous traumatic experience after my first child was born and I was very unwell.
I unexpectedly was re-traumatised and began to become distressed. The midwife who was caring for me was very containing and supportive, they checked my bleeding regularly and reassured me it was normal.
This helped me to feel safe and cared for.
Once I was fit to be moved I was discharged to ward 30 where I was given my own room.
The staff on the ward were friendly and professional, caring and respectful. Again they reassured me I was well and my blood loss was normal.
I was discharged the following day.
I would like to say thank you to all the staff for their care and support.
"Excellent care for my son and I during and..."
