Admitted as a 999 patient to CCU with suspected heart attack.
Very quickly made comfy and linked up to ECG
Various blood tests, CT heart scan and U/S Echo test done so that by end of the day they were able to tell me that it was not a heart attack and that my heart was pretty normal.
All the nursing staff and doctors and technicians were friendly, helpful, intelligent and knowlegable. My questions were answered in terms I understood, and I was made to feel un-stressed and relaxed.
Special praise should be given to two particular nurses (day-shift 2nd Dec) who dealt firmly but diplomatically with an older man who was being rather rude and demanding. Also to a doctor who explained to me about the RAPID-CTCA study and to the SHO who was very attentive and explanatory to me on the ward.
But everyone else was great too - so hard-working!
Food choices were ok, bed was amazing and I even found the free-wifi (not advertised!).
All in all - a good place for a Reading city break if you have heart problems!
Mike Reeves.
