I have struggled to manage my Diabetes since I became Diabetic in 1983. I was never offered meaningful assistance or advice until I moved to this area in 2003. Initially the help I received was no better than previously given. Then I had a new Diabetes Care Consultant; my Diabetes control commenced to improve from that first clinic I had with them. Appointments were made for me to see the team members who knew exactly how to help me to improve my diabetic control. I was given 'Carbohydrate Counting' training followed by DAFNE training (This should be mandatory for all GPs) and now I am using an OMNIPOD insulin pump. Today I now use less insulin than I had needed before and I am congratulated on the quality of my health statistics. I am so grateful for the help given to me by the 'University Hospital of North Durham'
Diabetic care team and I truly believe that they are the absolute best in the UK.
I must give a massive 'THANK YOU' to you all. Definitely more than five stars.
