I went to the urgent care department this week as I couldn't t get an appointment with my doctor. Unfortunately I was seen by a GP that, in my view, seemed unable to make any decisions either than telling me to go and see my doctor urgently and providing me with a letter to hand in to my surgery. This was quite worrying for me.
The GP was also obrupt and on the defensive when talking to me and continuously repeating that they were trying to help me (like they were doing me a favour) throughout the consultation.
I appreciate that GPs in the department do not have access to patient's history, but there s not much point in having an out of hours department if patients are told to make an appointment with their GP practice anyway.
Furthermore, on examination, the GP did not seem to know what they were looking at. All in all a very poor experience.
