After having had one of my twins stillborn three years ago, i was extremley apprehensive and terrified throughout my last pregnancy with my daughter. The staff at HRI ADU were absolutely fantastic in their care and support of me and also very reassuring. When I reached the milestones in my pregnancy of when i lost my son; they were very supportive, gave me their time to talk through how I was feeling and intervened when my stress levels began to affect me. On the few occasions that I attended the unit for monitoring with my oldest daughter, they were very tolerant of her presence and would take the time to explain what they were doing and what they were looking for when they were monitoring my youngest daughter's movements. I was however very surprised when i attended the labour ward by how many of the doctors hadn't read my notes and kept asking if this was my first baby. On the other hand, the midwife who took care of me and my husband during my ECS was absolutely brilliant, had taken the time to read my notes, was very reassuring and a rock of support throughout the whole operation. Without her help, i don't know how I would have fared emotionally. She made such a big difference to my experience of birth this time. This particular midwife and the midwives at ADU are a credit to their profession and we are so lucky to have such caring and hardworking individuals working at our local hospital.
