Following surgery I have never seen the consultant or anyone who was in theatre. I don't know who the doctor was who did basic checks for circulation and sensation on the ward after surgery, they didn't introduce themselves. I was spoken to very abruptly when I asked if it would be possible to see someone who was in surgery to discuss what they had found and the implications. At the 6 week follow up in orthopedic out patients I never saw the consultant, just a Physio. The Physio said they were only able to see me between 2-4.30 on a Thursday for rehabilitation treatment and if I can't make that (which I can't because I work!) then I should find a Physio privately.
I have no written information on the findings or any answers to my questions about the surgery. I have had to pay to request a copy of my notes, which I need to give to a private Physio so they can manage my rehab. Oh, and the notes can take up to 40 days...I'm still waiting!
In summary, very frustrated with non existent communication and very poor after care.
"Speedy treatment but very poor aftercare"
