What I liked
The Theatre Admission unit annex was small, friendly and very clean. Nurse polite and attentive. I was collected for theatre by a tall sister in a blue uniform who explained everything and put me completely at ease for my general surgery operation. She remained with me throughout and chatted to me. She also came to see me when I was back on the annex ward to check my progress. I have been a patient in nearly all the Sheffield Hospitals and this was by far the best experience. I would opt for the NGH again if I needed to be admitted again.
What could be improved
Early on the theatre admission annex when we were starved for theatre some of the nurses had a cup of tea - not nice in front of patients.
Anything else?
Well done Northern General Hospital Theatre department and THANK YOU to the blue uniform sister who made my short stay such a positive memory.
