The waiting room for the appointment was the same as the antenatal care unit so I was surrounded by pregnant women while waiting for my appointment (which was 40 mins late). I felt that this was totally inconsiderate to my situation in that I find it upsetting to see pregnant women at this moment due to my recurring miscarriages.
When I actually had my appointment, I had very little expectations and it was a good job. After being asked if I had any children and some very brief details about my other failed pregnancies and if I'd had any previous tests, I was basically told that there wasn't much more they would do - take some bloods and that was about it - only if I wanted them to.
My main concern was the lack of interest or questions in my previous miscarriages or experiences - I had issues following a surgical removal of a miscarriage that the consultant skimmed over and showed no interest in. I left feeling like it was a total waste of my time and that boxes had been ticked and that was it. There was no interest in pursuing my case and I was told that there would be no further appointments. There was no mention of what to do if I were to get pregnant again and no offer of help here.
Not sure exactly what the point of the whole thing was - I was in and out within 10 minutes! I didn't even end up getting my blood test as I was directed across the road and there was a huge queue. After waiting so long for my appointment, I didn't have any more time to spend queueing again so I have literally no answers and no options. I had to wait 8 weeks for this appointment - which, incidently, had been cancelled and rescheduled twice before finally getting a confirmed date.
The only good thing was that The nurse at my appointment was absolutely lovely.
