I am absolutely disgusted at the system for Patient Transport ! My fiance was admitted to Watford General Hospital as he was feeling headachy and unsteady on his feet and it turned out that he had suffered a second mini stroke within the space of nearly two months which again scared the life out of me.
He was then kept in the A+E Departyment for around four hours while they were waiting for a bed to become available within the Stroke Unit which became available sonn after 1800 hrs. My fiance, Tony, was then taken up to the Stroke Unit where I went up with him to make sure that he was settled in and then around about 1930 hrs.
We are now on Thursday 20/08/2015 and this morning, the doctor comes round to him and tells him that they will be discharging him from the hospital and then they will sort out all the paperwork and tablets etc that he would need to continue to take when he comes home.
He gets taken from the Stroke Unit to what he calls a departure lounge soon after lunchtime around 1ish and he is still waiting to be picked up by the Patient Transport, which I feel is a complete joke as they must know that he is waiting to be brought home.
The service is disgraceful and thoroughly needs a damn good kick up the backside as this is the poorest service I've ever encountered. This really needs to be dealt with as I feel sorry for anyone else who has to use this service as it is so poor.
The nurses and doctors who have looked after Tony whilst being in the hospital have been absolutely fantastic and cannot be faulted for everything they've done, so a massive thank you to all their hard work in looking after him, but as for the Patient Transport System, I have nothing but idsgust for them right now.
