What I liked
Super Hospital - Friendly and efficient staff - Treated with courtesy at all times - attention to detail - fully briefed prior to operation.
An all round good experience, with just one or two small glitches. See below.
What could be improved
Trainee inserted cannula in wrong hand due to lack of supervision. No real problem, error spotted immediately the Anaesthetist arrived, apologised, and and supervised insertion into correct hand.
Whilst I realize that the Surgeon is a busy man with no doubt a full list of patients waiting to be operated on, it would have been nice to have had the opportunity to speak to him after recovering from the anaesthetic, just to ask how it had gone, and what exactly had been found and done.
Anything else?
I came out of the anaesthetic at around 15.30 and was on my way home at about 17.00hrs.
That does seem a remarkably short recovery time for someone who has just had a General Anaesthetic! However, it was not a problem for me, so I guess it must be ok!!!
I was told on arrival that I would not be allowed to go home until I had seen the Physiotherapist.
However, as soon as I was dressed, a Nurse gave me a sheet explaining the excercises which I would have to do for the following two weeks, and I left.
Overall, I would be very happy to return to Kings Mill Hospital, should the need arise.
