I was taken into the County Hospital by ambulance on Thursday 23rd July about 0730 with acute. Back pain.....from the moment I arrived they treated me with compassion and respect and did all they could to make me comfortable.....special thanks to two of the nurses ....they were exceptional...lovely people Unfortunately I was transferred to stoke......I found the staff there off hand and rude....at one stage I pressed the buzzer in order to ask for a sick bowl....it took Twenty minutes to answer all my calls including shouting out to staff who were passing......I was violently sick and it took a further twenty minutes to attract the attention of staff to remove it and I then had to ask for someone to clean the vomit from my pillow and face....in my opinion there was little compassion or care and I was left unattended for long periods of time without anyone looking to see how I was....I was discharged at 1200 midnight with some painkillers.......but still under the influence of morphine....once home and when the morphine had worn off I was in agony and had to be admitted to The County Hospital again......again I had fantastic. Treatment and the same staff...the nurses were terrific they were able to prescribe, together with the doctor, a proper pain relief strategy that has enabled me to return home and begin to rehabilitate my back i don't know why this couldn't have been done in Stoke......my impression from the Stoke staff especially the doctor I saw was one of apathy
"Excellent caring and so compassionate"
