This appointment was originally scheduled for admission to Heartlands hospital on Saturday 11th July. Because my name was entered on a female admission list in error, it was cancelled by consultation with me and moved to Good Hope on 15th July. To avoid this mistake in the future is there a free format area on the computer screen that can be coloured pink for female and blue for male admissions? This would alert the Waiting List Coodinator the correct Gender List for the patient was being used? Secondly, my pre-assessment was carried out on 7th July as if the admission was a Morning procedure. In fact the revised appointment was an afternoon procedure. A a result of a query I had on the low fibre diet I rang the Specialist Nurse at Good Hope the day before admission and discovered from them that the Moviprep medication needed to be carried out once in the previous evening and once in early morning the day of admission. This compared with my instruction at the original pre-assessment appointment that both preparations need to be taken the previous evening as that was a morning procedure. The Waiting List Coordinator needs to be aware and inform the Specialist Nurse at the new appointment location that the pre-assessment instructions require a change communicated to the patient to ensure the Moviprep medication is taken at the correct time. I found out by virtue of having a query over something else. In all other respects my out-patient admission and procedure was exemplary.
