i attended the gastroenterology unit last friday to see the consultant i was greeted by the television blaring at full tilt at 9.00am which i found distressing and confusing. The reception staff were unbelievably rude to patients and preoccupied with texting or chatting to each other and i felt like i was in their way and interrupting .I witnessed another distressed patient being rudely treated then overheard nursing staff gossiping amongst themselves about her so loudly that other patients could here what was going on.There seems to be a culture of entitlement and rudeness and absolutely no compassion or care-i found staff behaviour very unprofessional. In fact all the tests i had done were lost and i was informed only this morning i would have to come in again.-after having waited almost 6 months for the original appointment. i would like to add that once i got past the ground staff and actually saw the consulting nurse i felt much better- they were lovely - attentive and personable and efficient without being officious.Same goes for the bloods nurse- friendly , efficient and kind- i find it really upsetting , what has happened to a once amazing health service
"not happy"
