I had a traumatic time at the birth of my daughter as she was born by emergency Caesarian with general anaesthetic and then I had a life threatening haemorrhage. The staff on the antenatal ward and labour ward and HDU were outstanding. I felt safe and well looked after at a very scary time. My other two children were allowed to visit and my partner was also well supported in the days I spent in hospital. During the emergency I could see that team worked well together and acted quickly and calmly. The anaesthetist and obstetric staff were fantastic. The HDU nurses were especially helpful, competent and genuinely friendly which is so important. The nurses on the antenatal ward were also very welcoming and friendly and I was touched that the midwife who treated me for induction came to visit me afterwards on the post natal wards. The only slight downside was the night staff on the postnatal ward were not as helpful or supportive when I needed help picking my baby up to feed her at night.
"Competent and compassionate"
