I gave birth to our beautiful daughter on the 29th June at 00:14 in the birthing pool. The room was lovely. It was very clean and I felt it had everything I needed to labour as comfortably as possible. The main reason for my feedback is for a fantastic midwife who supported me through out the labour and birth. They were absolutely outstanding. I couldn't fault their care at all. The midwife explained everything and answered all of my questions to ensure I was happy with the process. During the second stage of labour they supported me endlessly and without their help I truly believe the recovery from my delivery would have been significantly longer. I was incredibly nervous due to the experience with my son's birth, however the reassurance by the midwife was invaluable. Not only did they do their job faultlessly they are a happy, energetic and an enthusiastic lperson. A true delight to be around. The teamwork everyone showed was uplifting and you can see that everyone works hand in hand. I hope this praise will be handed on to the midwife as they exceeded all of my expectations. They are a true asset to the maternity department. There isn't a way I could put in to words how thankful I am for everything they have done! For improvement of my maternity care I would have preferred the same midwife through out appointments to ensure consistency and to build a relationship. I feel if someone is expected to be off for a significant amount of time it should be covered by the same person or alternatively a different clinic offered. I would also like to see an improvement on the appointments line. I understand everyone is busy in the ward but it took me over a week to reach someone with consistent calling only to ring through to voice mail. Also this line is important because the communication between the GP and maternity unit was lost and I was unable to find my appointment time as it had not been written down in my book.
"A huge thank you!"
