My daughter suffered a serious injury to her elbow in July 2014 while using a trampoline. Her treatment from the beginning to end of several months of involvement was absolutely exemplary. It was initially hoped that she would not need surgery and we were able to go on a booked holiday overseas with fantastic advice from the nursing staff about how we could purchase a cover to allow her to swim. Following our return a week later, it was decided she did need an operation and she was admitted the following day for this. Her surgeon was brilliant at explaining to both her (she was 12 at the time) and me everything involved, allowing us to make well-informed decisions. They were also extremely kind and personable, despite being under a great deal of pressure during a record-breaking busy period for the hospital as reported in the press. The nursing staff, admin staff and doctors in all departments we dealt with were excellent - Orthopaedic clinic, A&E and the Children's Ward. Following the surgery my daughter had follow up appointments with a consultant and also physio - all very efficiently handled and effective. Her outcome has been fantastic, less than a year on at the time of writing and she is basically back to full use of her arm and no discomfort at all. The experience was very positive and I have huge admiration for the staff at the hospital who are doing a brilliant job in difficult circumstances.
