I was always told by my local hospital eye consultant that if I were ever to have my congenital cataracts removed I would either go blind or have double vision as I also had astigmatism and had had a squint corrected at the age of 6. When I first saw the consultant in November 2014 they were was appalled that I had been left with such poor vision and what my local hospital had lead me to believe. I had my first cataract removed in January 2015 and was absolutely amazed at the fantastic vision it gave me straight away with no problems at all! Before the op I couldn't read a computer without the aid of a magnifying glass and I had stopped driving simply because I didn't feel safe. Once I'd had the first surgery I had the best sight I have ever had! I just couldn't believe how clear and bright my vision had instantly become! As you can imagine I couldn't wait for the second op which took place in April. The second op was not as straight forward as the first but I am extremely happy to report that the result was just as amazing.! I get cross when I hear people moaning about the waiting times at appointments but believe me I have waited 54 years to get the clearest vision I have ever had! The skill and expertise of surgeons has been worth waiting for! I admit I was nervous before the first op as I didn't know what the outcome would be but I would recommend anyone with eye problems to get referred to Moorefields for the expertise of the surgeons and the kindness of the staff. Once again a massive thank you to the surgeon and the team!
