I asked to be referred to a consultant after I had spoken to several different patients whom they had already treated and operated on. They had experienced excellent outcomes so I was happy to meet them. This consultant has a relaxed, friendly and informative manner and went to great lengths to answer all of my questions and keep me fully informed about my prospects of a satisfactory outcome at all stages: they even gave me a commentary towards the end of the operation! There is a well-integrated recovery system at the Claremont and all of the staff were totally focused on my well-being. Here, I refer to the specialist nursing staff in the theatre and recovery room, the "ward" nurses, physiotherapists, catering staff - the head chef even discussed my dietary requirements with me in person(!) - and administration staff. The accessibility to all of this excellent care as a result of the Choose and Book system was a most pleasing surprising. I feel sure that the "conventional" NHS hospitals' route works well but I cannot but recommend thoroughly the "Claremont" option.
