I was previously diagnosed elsewhere in November 2014 but due to the surgeons negative attitude, giving me only a 2% chance of success and an unconfident feeling of a successful outcome, I was determined not to have the operation carried out in there. 5 months later, after the shock of the diagnosis had worn off, my GP referred me to Addenbrooks for a second opinion. At Adenbrooks after the CT scan and colonoscopy results came through I had a meeting with the Consultant Colorectal Surgeon which proved very informative. The surgeon has a very positive and relaxing attitude, and was articulate and clear about the various ways in which they would approach the operation depending on their findings during the operation. The consultant left me with a feeling of complete confidence in their ability to carry out the operation successfully. An operation was carried out to remove a large tumor from my colon and was skillfully carried out within two weeks of referral to Addenbrooks. I would like to thank the Consultant Colorectal Surgeon for their surgical skills, self confidence and relaxing manner, Senior Nurse for their above and beyond nursing skills, and all of the many excellent, highly trained senior nurses, plus all the other medical staff that looked after me during my 5 days stay.
