I attended QEQM A&E in February 2014 concerned with what I felt was a significant health problem. Following my initial wait of 30-40 minutes I was assessed by triage in a professional manner which left me feeling I was being listened to and believed (a big plus!). I was advised that someone would be out to see me immediately. I thought this would be the usual 2-4 hours of sitting in A&E but to my delight a Dr came to the waiting area and I was immediately admitted for care and once the seriousness of my condition was confirmed the attending Dr arranged for me to be blue lighted to Kent and Canterbury for specialist attention. This action by the triage Dr/Nurse and subsequent prompt action by the doctor in A&E saved me from a life of dialysis, ensured I was seen by the appropriate specialist and ultimately, I believe, saved my life. So a big thank you to all the staff. Out of 4 hospitals I attended with my concerns (2 in the 2 days prior - 1 a private hospital ) and 1 after - I believe the care I received at the QEQM was the most effective, appropriate, professional and I could not fault any of the staff. I was amazed to hear the hospital staff nearby state that they had to phone 999 to ask for an ambulance to be sent to the hospital to transport me to Canterbury - what! Phone for an ambulance from and A&E? Amazing. I also attended Dover Hospital the day before Margate - seeking help and I was astounded to hear there were no Drs at the hospital!! I find this absolutely amazing. Once again. Thank you all - including the ambulance staff who kept me smiling on the trip over - despite the speed bumps!
