My daughter injured her finger at school whilst playing netball. When she arrived home, I decided to take her to get it x-rayed because it was badly bruised and she was in a lot of pain.
I had hoped to go to the local minor injuries clinic, but it was quite late, after 1800, so I called to see if the x-ray department were still available. I spoke to a lovely nurse, who apologised and said that after 1600, I would have to go to Derriford Hospital ED. My heart sank.
We went along, and, although the department was clearly very busy, we were seen quickly by a very nice nurse practitioner. After only a short wait for an x-ray (conducted by a really lovely student radiologist), the fracture was confirmed, the finger buddy-taped to its neighbour and we were given an appointment for the following week for a check-up.
In all it only took an hour, and the staff very all very helpful. Thank you!
