But they really aren't. Staff are incredibly unhelpful, and seem unable to even lift a finger to potentially save a life. If someone having suicidal ideations calls you the correct response is not to offer that person an appointment in a months time, the correct response is to ensure they are seen as quickly as possible. Utterly frustrating. Simply disgusting responses from AMHT administrative staff. The hospital's initial front desk people were perfectly lovely and deserve commendation, particularly as they have to deal with all the (understandable) frustration, sadness and anger caused by the AMHT staff. They may be under-resourced by the NHS but that does not change their overall performance and disorganised manner. Utterly despicable of the NHS to consider this an effective hospital, particularly in light of increasing mental health concerns. Horribly resourced and badly run, hospital staff should not have to be directing mental health patients towards private psychiatric help they are unlikely to be able to afford.
