I was referred by my doc to PAH with stomach pains, after being seen fairly quickly by the triage, doctors an the phlebotomist, results showed that I would need an emergency appendectomy. All quite a scary and quick process, but I was put to ease by the anaesthetist as she explained the procedure, within half an hour of being told I was gowned, in a chair and saying bye to my folks. I went into theatre at 7 and was out by 9.30. Staff kindly let my parents see me as I was the only patient in the room after surgery and even gave them tea. I was wheeled carefully and quietly onto Penn Ward, assuring me all the way, with the nurse offering me tea and a small snack to perk me up. I was carefully checked every half an hour then every hour with minimal fuss and disturbance. The nurses on the ward were very kind, not only to me but all the other patients on the ward whatever the age or ailment. The food was lovely, hot and fulfilling and one press of a button and a nurse was quick to show up to aid in any way i needed. Doctors showed up to talk to me further about the procedure I had just had and how it went and again this was carefully and easily explained. I would like to say a massive thank you to the staff on Penn Ward who made my stay on the ward as comfortable as possible and the surgeons and doctors that operated on me so quickly and with great care. Keep up the good work xxxxxx
