"Dolphin ward"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Following a traumatic 5 days of my daughter aged 8 weeks , being admitted into PICU in a London hospital we were pleased due to her medical condition improving and not intensive care including ventilation, to be able to be transferred near our home and family. Whilst on PICU in London , my daughter received excellent nursing care with compassion and we were kept informed all the way with her treatment and progress. We were treated with dignity and respect. Arrangements for transfer were made for our 8 week daughter on a bed becoming available to be admitted to Medway paediatric ward , isolation room required , due to a compromised immune system. We were lead into a bay ward area which was described as an isolation ward/unit. The floors and areas around the cot were dirty. There was a lot of debris on the floor and the floor had obviously had not seen water for a long time. When voicing my concerns to a nurse her response was abrupt and said it was not their fault we got sent there and we cant be responsible for what people bring in on their shoes. Pointed out that the hospital corridors were clean and not dirty despite the amount of people traffic and bringing things in on their shoes. Uncaring, not my fault or responsibility attitude of the nurse was disgusting.
