Mother visited the GP surgery (Thorpewood Medical Group) on Friday morning and saw a clinician who was not happy with the symptoms being experienced. Referred immediately to the on-call GP.
After listening to the description of the symptoms, a suggestion was made to go to A&E as the advice from the neurosurgery department was to make an appointment with them for the following week,
After being seen straight away in A&E, and with a scan causing concern, a transfer was made into a specialist neurological unit 70 miles away for an immediate operation as there had been a bleed on the brain.
Mother is now home and recovering, but without the skill and judgement shown the outcome would have been very different.
