I have been terrified of having this surgery. But i really had no need to be. On the day of my surgery i started at Surgical Admissions Violet wills ward and met my anesthetist and my surgeon. Both were very professional and reassuring. They both explained everything i needed to know. All the staff were very professional and reassuring. After my surgery i was taken to the day surgery unit. The whole area was very clean and i could see a nurse thoroughly cleaning some empty beds. She was cleaning under neath them, the handles, no surface of the bed was left uncleaned. All the nurses were brilliant and made me feel very safe and secure. They were very caring, reassuring and did not leave me alone for a moment. They brought me regular pain relief and water. Although despite my best efforts, it became obvious i was not well enough to go home the same day. I was reassured that this sometimes happens and does not mean anything has gone wrong. The nurse quickly arranged for a bed for me up on Allerton Ward and i was soon moved there. I was in a room of just 4 of us and all female. Again all the staff there were really brilliant and made me feel very safe and secure. They were very quick to respond when i pressed the nurses button. Even throughout the night. Pain relief was brought promptly when i asked. As was water and food. Again it was all very clean and tidy and it smelt clean. I was given lots of information to go home with by the dispensing nurse and laparoscopic nurse and I went home later the next day. Also a specialist laparoscopic nurse phoned me at home a day later, to see how my recovery was going. I have to say i have never been treated so well in a hospital and i have been in a few. Star ratings and words cannot explain how great all these nurses really are.
