I recently had my stoma reversed at medway hospital and overall found the experience satisfatory. All nurses were fantastic, caring and professional.Preop care and post op care was also good.Surgeon and associated staff were also superb.Food was far better than I expected with a wide choice. However the systems and procedures at medway leave a lot to be desired, and appear to me to be a symptom of an over zealous managment focused on box ticking and cost cutting exercises that invariably have unintended consequences.I was called in for my op at 7am and was not taken down until 4.30 PM,feeling quite unwell from enforced dehydration and hunger.Post op I was in recovery from 6.00pm until 11.30 PM despite being absolutley fine to go to the ward. The post op area was filled to the brim with patients waiting for a bed to become free on a ward, with stressed nurses constantly trying to get some information as to when and which wards patients would be sent.My overall impression was of qa hospital with dedicated undervalued staff being let down by incompetent managment.
